Apex Clean Energy Signs 200 MW Renewable Energy Purchase Agreement with Public Service Company of Oklahoma
Charlottesville, VA – October 10, 2013 – Apex Clean Energy has signed a Renewable Energy Purchase Agreement (REPA) with the Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO), a subsidiary of American Electric Power (AEP), for 200 MW of wind energy from Apex’s Balko Wind project. The 300 MW Balko Wind project, which is expected to come online in 2015, will produce enough electricity to power over 110,000 U.S. homes.
“The Balko Wind project is located in one of the best wind resource areas in the country,” said Mark Goodwin, President of Apex. “We are very pleased to be working with AEP again this year. Balko is a high-quality project, and now it will generate clean, domestic, renewable power.”
The development and construction of the Balko project will provide an estimated $430 million investment in the region and is expected to generate significant tax revenues, economic benefits and jobs for Beaver County.
The renewable energy credits from the Balko Wind project are being sold to a third party.
