Apex Clean Energy Applauds Ohio Legislature Action to Address Wind Turbine Setbacks
Charlottesville, VA – June 22, 2017 – Mark Goodwin, president and CEO of Apex Clean Energy, Inc., issued this statement following the release of the Ohio Senate omnibus amendment to House Bill 49:
Apex Clean Energy applauds the Ohio Senate for addressing the current property line setbacks for wind turbines in the Senate omnibus amendment to House Bill 49. We especially want to recognize Senate President Obhof, Senator Hite, and Finance Chairman Oelslager for their leadership.
The proposal is a thoughtful compromise that would move the state’s property line setback to a level more stringent than pre-2014 distances and that balances smart wind development with individual property owner protections.
Ohio’s leaders understand what ratepayers, job creators, and Fortune 500 companies already know: that sensible renewable energy policies can spur meaningful economic development. Apex is prepared to infuse more than $2.5 billion in private investment into Ohio with this reasonable change to the setback standards.
We encourage conference committee negotiators, House leadership, and Governor Kasich to build on this progress by working to include the setback language in the final budget. Ohio’s economic growth depends on it.
