Chief Executive Officer

As CEO, Ken drives Apex’s corporate strategy; manages the company’s day-to-day operations, including the origination, construction, and operation of utility-scale wind, solar, and storage facilities, distributed energy resources, and green fuel technologies; and leads a mission-driven team of more than 400 professionals who are accelerating the energy transition. Previously, Ken served as Apex’s COO (2017–2023) and vice president of operations (2015–2017). Prior to joining Apex, Ken worked for Vestas Wind Systems as a chief program manager, overseeing technology support throughout the Americas. Ken is a former U.S. Army infantry officer; he served in Europe and as part of The Old Guard, the army’s premier ceremonial unit, in Arlington, Virginia. He holds a bachelor of science in political science and systems engineering from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and a master of business administration from the University of Notre Dame.

Chief Financial Officer

Kenny leads the corporate finance and accounting functions at Apex and is responsible for capital raising efforts at the corporate level, both debt and equity, as well as budgeting, capital planning, and investor/financial reporting. Kenny has been at Apex for 10 years, over which time he and his team has raised over $2.4 billion of capital for Apex, including the capital raised as part of the Ares merger in 2021. Prior to Apex, Kenny worked at Dominion Power in the Fixed-Asset Accounting and SEC Reporting departments. He was responsible for project accounting and finance for all of Dominion’s merchant fossil and hydro generating stations, merchant renewable stations, and related SEC reporting. Kenny began his career with RSM McGladrey, a large national CPA firm, where he worked on multiple financial statement audits across several different industries, including manufacturing, banking, and health services. Kenny earned a BS in accounting and a Master of Accountancy with a focus in financial reporting and assurances services from Virginia Tech.

Executive Vice President and Head of Asset Management and Operations

Alexander is globally experienced renewable energy leader who brings to Apex over ten years of building successful customer-centric business development, asset operations, and project management teams. Before joining Apex in 2022, he worked at EDF Renewables North America, most recently as senior director of asset optimization, responsible for a 90+ person business unit operating over 6 GW of wind and solar power plants. Alexander holds a bachelor’s degree in economics from Trinity College and a master of business administration from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.

General Counsel and Corporate Secretary

Kurt leads Apex Clean Energy’s legal team and is responsible for the company’s legal affairs, including advising the company with respect to commercial transactions, corporate finance, corporate governance and risk management. Prior to joining Apex, Kurt worked in the Charlottesville office of McGuireWoods LLP and the Chicago and San Francisco offices of Winston & Strawn LLP. Kurt holds a BS in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Michigan and a JD from Duke University School of Law.

Executive Vice President and Head of Development

Scott oversees Apex’s development team, which manages all the moving pieces of every renewable energy project—from site feasibility and land acquisition to community engagement, environmental studies, transmission, and permitting. He has more than 15 years of experience in the clean energy industry; prior to joining Apex in 2013, he was a development manager at RES Americas and a senior project manager at Element Power, managing wind energy projects in the Upper Midwest. Scott holds a BA in business from the University of Colorado–Boulder.

Executive Vice President and Head of Project Finance

Grady leads the Project Finance team, which is responsible for raising project debt and tax equity financing for Apex’s portfolio as well as project sales and capital recycling transactions. Prior to joining Apex in 2011, Grady led marketing efforts at private and nonprofit organizations, including Clif Bar & Co. and 1% for the Planet. He also worked with the U.S. Department of Energy’s Bonneville Power Administration, where he analyzed the evolution of electricity markets and variable energy resource integration around North America for the Wind Integration Team. Grady holds a BS from Lehigh University and a master of environmental management from Yale University.

Executive Vice President and Head of Business Development

Eamon oversees offtake origination, acquisitions, and distributed energy resources across all markets and technologies. He has worked with Apex since 2009 in a variety of roles, including acquisitions, offtake origination, project finance, corporate finance, and development. Eamon holds a BA in mathematics from the University of Virginia and an MBA from the University of Virginia Darden School of Business.

Vice President and Head of People Operations

Ali is responsible for supporting, sustaining, and inspiring a world-class team by driving the people strategy aligned with Apex’s mission, business operations, values, and strategy; partnering across the company to identify each business unit’s needs; and identifying and supporting activities and initiatives to motivate, train, and retain the team at all levels. Prior to joining Apex in 2016, Ali was immersed in a variety of leadership roles in the fitness industry, including helping run what became the fastest-growing outdoor fitness company in the nation. Ali holds a BS in psychology and business from the University of Tennessee and an MS in community and regional planning from the University of Texas.

Executive Vice President and Head of Project Delivery

Scott is responsible for leading strategic growth opportunities at Apex, including all green fuels activities and Project Rio. He has been at Apex for 11 years, and prior to this role, Scott led corporate capital raising and project-level financing for over 3 GW of operating wind, solar, and battery storage projects. Scott holds a BS in economics from the University of Richmond and an MBA focused in renewable energy finance from the George Washington University.
